Welcome toThe Year One Web PageWe are the Leopards
See
How they Grow During
this half term we have been looking at how things grow.
We have looked at the different parts of plants and their
similarities and differences. We
carried out an experiment to see what conditions a plant needs to grow and
also took part in a competition to see which class could grow the tallest
sunflower. As an extension of
this we visited the local allotments to see a range of fruit and
vegetables growing. Some of
the allotments holders showed us around.
Thank you very much. We
also looked at how important farms are in the production of food and this
included thinking about the animals that live on farms.
We visited Mead Open Farm on a very wet day and had the opportunity
to feed goats, sheep, cows and pigs. We
missed out on the outside play area though!
The
end of term brought the usual sports and country dancing activities which
we all enjoyed. We are looking
forward to the summer holidays and beginning in year 2 in September.
