Breakfast, After School Club

and Holiday Scheme

We are keen to support working parents and offer children a variety of fun activities at our OFSTED registered Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Play Scheme.

BREAKFAST CLUB

Breakfast Club is open from 8.00am until 8.45am .  Children are offered breakfast on arrival, which is a choice of cereals, toast, fresh fruit, and fruit juices or milk. They are then able to read, draw, colour, play board games, chat to friends until the start of school when they make their way/are escorted to their classroom or taken to Holmwood/Two Mile Ash School by “walking bus”.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

Children attending the After School Club are given a healthy snack which is freshly prepared by the After School Club team in the kitchen area adjacent to the technology area.  We encourage children to try new flavours in a fun way, but we are sensitive to each child's needs and cater for cultural/dietary requirements.

After snack children are taken outside (weather permitting) and the play workers guide and support them in their play. Play continues inside, in the main school hall, where a variety of games such as table tennis, cars and roads, dolls, home corner and den making materials are provided - always by consultation with the children themselves.  We also have a weekly 'theme' for arts and crafts activities. There is a quiet area available during all sessions for those children who wish to read or rest. Our play workers are constantly undertaking training in order to provide the best service for your children and maintain the high standards parents have come to expect from Ashbrook. All staff are appropriately CRB checked and we always have a first-aid trained member of staff on duty.

A ‘walking bus’ service is operated from Ashbrook School to collect children from Holmwood School at 3.10pm and from Two Mile Ash School at 3.30pm.

Timetable for the After School Club is as follows:

We offer half sessions ( 3.00–4.30pm or 4.00–6.15pm ) and full sessions ( 3.00-6.15pm ).

.        3.00 pm – all children to go to Technology Room for snack.  Children taken to main hall for indoor activities or outside for games etc until you collect them.

.        Door entry is via the main entrance using the buzzer system to get in.  You will then be able to collect your child(ren), given any messages concerning your child(ren) and asked to sign your child out so we have a record of where children are at all times.

.        If, in an emergency, you need to appoint someone to collect your child(ren), other than those named on your registration form, you must telephone us first so we can give you a password, which they must use or we will not permit your child(ren) to leave the premises.

.        If your child has medication in school, ie: inhalers etc, please arrange for the After School Club to have one for our medical box for emergency use.

.        Please note that children must be collected by 6.15 pm at the latest.  Parents will be charged £1.00 per minute after this time.

HOLIDAY PLAY SCHEME

Our Holiday Play Scheme is always popular and we aim to offer a range of fun activities to keep your children busy and entertained during the holidays. Theme days, visits from experts, demonstrations, workshops, are all examples of activities offered in  addition to the fantastic range of play available during term time.

As this facility is always popular, please book early to avoid disappointment.  Our Holiday Play Scheme is open to older and younger school age siblings up to the age of 12. Activities are tailored to the age groups booked into the play scheme.

Breakfast will be available to all children arriving between 8.00-8.45am . You will need to supply your child with a packed lunch, although healthy snacks and drinks will be provided.

BOOKING PROCEDURE

Please ensure you complete a registration form your child and keep us informed of any changes to your contact details.  This will enable us to contact you immediately in case of emergency.

At the start of each half term, parents will need to have completed a booking form, detailing all sessions required for that period.  This will help us to plan staffing, refreshments and activities in advance.  All booking forms are available from the school office.

If you are unable to book in advance, due to shift patterns etc and you require your child to attend on an ad-hoc basis, we will need to know which sessions you require on the Monday of each week and receive payment that day.
